Commissioners

In accordance with LA-R.S. 32:1253, the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission consists of 14 Commissioners plus a Chairman all appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. They oversee the primary business of the commission. The 15-Member Commission meets every other month, or more if needed, to conduct informal dispute resolution procedures / conferences, review/approve/deny license applications, set and oversee agency policies, and handle other necessary and routine business.

The Dispute Resolution Panel, who are also appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate, meets only as needed to conduct formal administrative hearings to rule all disputes, protests, complaints, or other contested manners involving licensees of the Commission and matters involving any person or entity operating without a required license. The Panel does NOT set or oversee agency policies and does NOT manage any other commission business.
